Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football with community service. The first time the Selmons were raised with Lucious and Jessie Selmon, on the farm close to Eufala in Oklahoma as the youngest of the nine children they had. He played second in football and was the third brother who were players for Oklahoma. The three brothers all made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey was an All-Star for the whole 1973 season. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's most effective lineman. In the three years that Roy was on the field, Oklahoma won two National Championships. Selmon was a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was awarded an award for his third season in 1975. Selmon earned a degree in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer hours per week during his time in college. After graduation Lee Roy moved to Tampa and spent the next nine years playing for Tampa's Buccaneers. There were three times he was selected All-Pro. Then he began his business career. His first job was as a Account Relations Officer with First Florida Bank, Tampa. He was a member previously for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored him in 1982 as being one of the top 10 young men in the US. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and was a tall of 6'2 inches. In his time at college, he was the captain of the team of 1975. In 1993, he joined the university of south Florida's athletic department as its assistant director. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. He was also named to the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 presented its Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor that presented the award.
